Great success in the accomplishment of HydroProcess 2008, II International Workshop on Process Hydrometallurgy. Two hundred and seventy Delegates, among hydrometallurgists, mining executives, public authorities, researchers, academics, students, vendors and metallurgical service providers, participated during these three days Workshop
The delegates came from 20 countries: Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Equator, France, Israel, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay and USA.
The main participating mining companies of Chile and Region were: SQM, Molymet, Maricunga, Barrick, Vale, CODELCO-Chile, BHP Billiton, Anglo American-Chile, Pucobre, CM-Quebrada Blanca, CMDI-Collahuasi, CM-El Abra, Xstrata, among others.
The main discussion topics between the delegates were: Geo-Metallurgy, Metallurgy of the Gold and Silver, Professional education and careers, security in the industrial operations and the recovery and processing of by-products from ores and metallurgical materials. The Technical Program included the following Sessions:
• Mineral Cyanidation and Destruction of the Cyanide
• Chemical and Bacterial Leaching of Minerals and Concentrates
• Biohydrometallurgical Studies and Processes
• Automation, Modeling and Control of Industrial Processes
• Electrolytic, Cristallization and Solvent Extraction Processes
• Innovations and Developments in the Hydrometallurgical Processes
The Organising Committee of the Workshop thanks the collaboration of all the Delegates, Participants, Members of the Advisory and Technical Committees, who helped and supported with the diffusion of this Event and also with the review of the technical papers. We would also like to thank the Session Chairmen, the Sponsor Companies and especially the Authors for their participation and for sharing their knowledge and experience in the innovations on the processes and the production practices of metals and valuable compounds.
We invite the hydrometallurgical community to maintain its enthusiasm and to participate in the next 3rd version of the Workshop, HydroProcess 2010.
